Using The Shot Template's Lens Field of view protractor and set floor plans.  By determining what your shots frame edges are. You then mark the point of the camera Lens which exactly where it goes on the real set.  It's accuracy allows measurements of distance using the scale ruler (in feet or meter's). It really is that simple.

By using this method you can judge which lens you require, or if you have decided the lens size, where the camera must go, using that particular lens. The lens field of view Protractor transfers the mechanical lens formulas into a practical and visual method of shot planning. If you don't have a set floor plan, you can use the scale rulers to quickly and very accurately draw one.
